The Human Rights Forum (HRF) has termed the developments in the University of Hyderabad as alarming, and has urged the State government to respond immediately and provide protection to students.
While war-like atmosphere prevailed on Tuesday, several organisations were not allowed to intervene, nor did the police officials make an attempt to bring peace to the campus. There was no mention of the trouble in the State Assembly either.
The 37 students and two faculty members arrested on Tuesday have not been presented before the court so far. Water supply has been cut off to hostels and mess has been closed. Food and water from outside is not being allowed inside the campus.

The State government’s attitude is indifferent as if it did not have anything to do with the problem, a press release from HRF remarked, and demanded that all those arrested should be produced before magistrate, and that food and water supply should be restored in the campus.
