Houses lie submerged at Kings Colony

Several houses lay submerged at Kings Colony, near Miralam Lake in Rajendra Nagar Circle, after water overflowed from a minor irrigation tank nearby. There was little action from authorities until local residents took up the matter with Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi.

Later, Mayor Mohd. Majid Hussain, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and officials of various other government departments, who inspected the area, decided to pump out the water to provide relief to the residents.

The Commissioner also assured to pay another visit later in the evening to take stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, continuing his Zonal Office visit to solve employee grievances, Mr. Somesh Kumar ordered the immediate release of money from a sanitary jawan’s provident fund for his medical expenses. He also asked GHMC Additional Commissioners to examine and finalise promotion lists within two days for about 500 junior assistants languishing in the same post for several years.

The respective Zonal and Deputy Commissioners were told to provide the staff with proper seating arrangements, lunch rooms and toilets, besides undertaking building repairs. Similarly, promotions to bill collectors too will be considered.
