Breaking into over 100 houses in a span of six years is not the only interesting point about Bhukya Nagaraju Naik arrested by the Karkhana police on Monday.
With the stolen money, he would fly to cities like Bangalore, Chennai or Kochi and enjoy the hospitality of star hotels, North Zone DCP R. Jaya Lakshmi said at a press conference. Though arrested and convicted several times, Naik continued to break into houses and take away available valuables. He allegedly burgled five houses since he jumped bail in May this year.
The accused would also indulge in betting on IPL cricket matches with the money secured by selling stolen jewellery. “Naik would hire cars to move from one place to another after committing an offence. He would throw lavish parties to his friends as well,” Karkhana Inspector N. Shyam Prasad Rao said.

Naik would do reconnaissance of posh colonies and identify locked houses. He would either break the latch or lock of the house and take away the property. He used to change his mobile phones and SIM cards frequently not to leave any trace of evidence for the police to track him.
Gold ornaments weighing 850 grams and silver articles and jewellery weighing two kilos were recovered after arresting him and G. Pavan, who allegedly purchased the stolen articles from him.

In another case, the Trimugherry police on Monday recovered gold ornaments weighing 320 grams, kilo of silver articles and Rs. 35,000 after arresting a gang of three persons, including its leader P. Sriramulu. Five associates of Sriramulu were arrested a few weeks ago.
