Justice S.V.Bhatt of Hyderabad High Court on Friday asked the Telangana police to inform the court about the alleged arrests being made prior to the processions and meetings under the banner of Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) by Monday.
The court will hear on Monday on the validity of orders being passed repeatedly by police rejecting permissions and reasons mentioned in these orders.
The judge was dealing with a case filed by Gopal Sharma, co-convenor of TJAC. He challenged the action of the police in not passing final orders on the application made for ‘Amarula Spurthi Yatra’ by TJAC on 21 and 22 of October. Rachana Reddy counsel appearing for the petitioner complained that the police are in habit of not passing any orders when applications are made seeking permission for rallies and public meetings. She said that on Friday afternoon she received letter from police authorities that the permission is rejected. These last minute orders are passed so that the courts cannot intervene.

The police are arresting citizens when they want to go to such yatras. J.Ramachandra Rao, Additional Advocate general said that the police have inputs about the violence that may take place. He said that violation of conditions imposed in permission granted has caused difficulties in Kamareddy. The meetings and yatras have become regular feature.
The judge said that the court will look into the issues of reasons mentioned in the rejection orders and the larger issue of right of citizens to protest. He felt that prima facie some of the reasons mentioned in the rejection orders are not rational. The case is listed to Monday for comprehensive adjudication on these issues.
