After 97 movies - many of them hits that scorched the screens, actor Nandamuri Balakrishna is now on a different path. On June 19, he entered the exalted portals of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, after being elected from Hindupur constituency that was once represented by his father, the legendary N.T. Rama Rao.
For someone used to getting in and out of roles onscreen, this off-screen and away-from-the-camera portrayal as an MLA does not look too difficult. In the week that he has spent in the Assembly, members and others, including political reporters were surprised to find him a rather modest character.
An interaction with him in the MLAs lounge saw him coming across as one who was as passionate about serving people as he is, about acting in movies.

“I need to learn a lot from the Assembly. I will spend as much time in my constituency as I can to study problems faced by the people who voted for me. I will not let them down for casting their votes in favour of the Nandamuri family,” he said.
When this reporter recalled how long it had taken for the indoor stadium to be completed, he said he was already working on facilitating an outdoor stadium in Hindupur. The indoor stadium is located behind the bus stand in the town. “I have already starting working on my responsibilities as an MLA and am formulating plans to develop the constituency. I know I have a lot of work to do,” he said, flashing his trademark grin.

Meanwhile, work on his 98 film too has begun. The untitled venture that is directed by debutant Satya Deva, has Trisha in what is considered her comeback in Telugu tinsel town. Typical of an actor, he does not show any eagerness to reveal any detail whatsoever about the film!
