Demand pay parity and remuneration on a consolidated pay basis

The Telangana Degree Lecturers Forum on Thursday demanded that the State government increase their pay and ensure remuneration on a consolidated pay basis.

TDLF general secretary G. Krishna Kumar said that guest lecturers were being paid ₹100 per period. This, he said, was inadequate and demanded the government to intervene.

“There is a cap of 72 hours or periods per month. We are demanding that the rate be increased to ₹500 per period,” Mr. Kumar said.

As those working as contractual employees are being paid on consolidated pay basis of ₹42,000, he said the guest lecturers too have been asking that they be paid on similar basis. “We are also demanding that the government allot us a separate budget and a consolidated pay of ₹21,700,” he said.

The TDLF has approached several ministers and politicians including Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari, Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi. However, their demands are yet to be met, they claimed.

“The government has said that they would increase the pay to ₹300 per hour, which is the same as what intermediate lecturers get. If that is the case, then there will be no difference between intermediate and degree lecturers,” Mr. Kumar pointed out.

His views were echoed by the TDLF president and several others.

The TDLF also said that the government should introduce an ‘auto-renewal’ system of services for the guest lecturers.
