Green Corps to hold Bathukamma contests

They are being organised as part of the Bathukamma Floral Plant Biodiversity Promotion Campaign. Moreover, girl students who can swim would be trained as volunteers to help release bathukammas sans plastic into the water bodies, in all districts of Telangana.

The National Green Corps-Prakrithi Mitra will organise a series of activities as part of the Bathukamma Floral Plant Biodiversity Promotion Campaign.

In association with the Education Department and the NSS, the NGC is organising a Facebook competition where contestants can post captioned photos of Bathukamma festivities with flowers. Three posts that get the most likes will be awarded prizes, a press note said.

bathukamma s sans plastic into the water bodies, in all districts of Telangana. Also there would also be competitions in each district for women students from universities involving the making of colourful Bathukammas with 22 local varieties of flowers.

NGC-Prakrithi Mitra will also produce a 10-minute video on the flowers used during the festivities. Singing competitions would also be held, said NGC director W.G. Prasanna Kumar.
