Plans to set up four hospitals in city

The State government will consider setting up a hospital at the Victoria Memorial (VM) Home at Saroornagar as part of its plan to set up four big hospitals in the city on the lines of Osmania and Gandhi hospitals. The Maheshwaram MLA, Teegala Krishna Reddy asked the government to set up 800-bed hospital at VM Home to cover the expanding city.

ICU facilities

The Health Minister, C. Laxma Reddy, who was responding to several questions on improving Area Hospitals, said the government would consider the MLA’s request. Earlier, Mumtaz Khan of MIM also demanded that ICU facilities be provided in all the Area Hospitals in the city to reduce pressure on the two big hospitals in the city. Dr. Laxma Reddy said the Government will acquire 200 new vehicles to provide free transport facility to pregnant women to promote institutional deliveries.

Already 41 vehicles were serving in the tribal areas for this and institutional deliveries have increased in government hospitals. This year, the entire State would be covered. A call centre will also be established. Women will also be transported for each antenatal check up. Congress MLA J. Geeta said government should keep a check on institutional deaths as well and sought a report on the recent deaths in Gandhi Hospital and Niloufer.
