The School Education Department has issued orders to provide transport facility to the children of the habitations without schools in Telangana under the Right to Education Act, 2009 and or Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
Special Chief Secretary (Education) Ranjeev R. Acharya stated in the orders that the State Government would pay ₹3,000 per annum (academic year 2017-18) per child to ensure that the children from such habitations attended schools located in the nearby habitations by availing the available mode of transport — auto or van or any other mode of private transport.
The School Education Department has identified that there are 1,404 habitations without schools, including 385 primary school-less habitations and 1,035 upper primary school–less habitations. The number of students benefitting would be extended the facility is 17,619, including 4,304 primary school students and 13,315 upper primary school students.

According to the officials, the school-less habitations are in 29 out of 31districts in the State, except Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri. Highest number of school-less habitations are in Khammam (159) followed by Mahabubabad (156), Bhadradri-Kothagudem (115), Jayashankar-Bhupalapally (105), Nalgonda (92), Yadadri-Bhongir (62), Kumrambheem-Asifabad and Warangal-Rural (57 each), Jangaon (56), Adilabad (54) and Suryapet (52). In The number of school-less habitations in the remaining 18 out of 29 districts it is less than 50 with the least of nine each in Jogulamba-Gadwal and Vikarabad districts.
