‘Government committed to fulfilling promise on filling posts’

Over 1.07 lakh posts will be filled by the end of five-year tenure of the government, says Chief Minister

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has asserted that the State Government is committed to fulfil its assurance of recruitment of 1.07 lakh posts lying vacant in different departments by the end of its five-year tenure.

“We are committed to fulfil our promise and provide more jobs if need be,” the Chief Minister said.

He was replying to Congress member S.A. Sampath Kumar’s charge during the Question Hour that the lapses committed by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) had denied job opportunity to aspirants of Group - II examinations as the issue is currently in the court.

Mr. Sampath Kumar criticised the government for the lapses that occurred in the OMR sheets provided during the examination as also corrections by whiteners that were allowed by the TSPSC that was challenged by some applicants. But the government had not initiated any action against the TSPSC officials holding them responsible for the lapses, he said.

The Chief Minister said his Government is committed to fulfil its promise of filling vacant posts, but it had to follow certain guidelines and the size of the government sector too matters.

“We will give more jobs than assured. Given the vastness of the tasks to be handled by the government, there could be scope for some errors. But we are rectifying such issues,” he said.

Stands by Chakrapani

He asked the members not to criticise the TSPSC as its chairman G. Chakrapani, hailing from dalit community, won accolades from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the reforms he had introduced and he was appointed as chairman of the standing committee.

“Never has such development taken place in the past,” he said. To another question on Ambedkar Overseas Vidyanidhi programme, he said the Government had not confined the benefit to select few and he himself was personally sanctioning assistance to the deserving.

Several initiatives had been launched for dalits and weaker sections and the government’s model of spending ₹ 1.2 lakh on each student for providing quality education was appreciated by the Central Government, he said.
