Applications invited for six-day start-up accelerator programme

Homemakers, unemployed youth and differently abled people will soon get the chance to take a shot at the booming world of start-ups. Engineering Staff College of India has invited applications for its six-day course in Start-up Accelerator Programme in Emerging and New Technologies.

The programme, acronymed SAPIENT, will be jointly offered by ESCI and The Entrepreneur Zone, a Hyderabad-based start-up accelerator, and is expected to help participants ideate and execute businesses.

In the six-day module, participants will be taken through design conceptualisation, ideation, market strategy and dynamics, planning and pitching, financial management and marketing. The course will also include introduction to robotics and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Experts will introduce additive manufacturing including 3D scanning and printing to those who want to see the accurate actualisation of their products and designs. Block-chain technologies and Internet of things (IoT) or smart devices will be introduced to start-up enthusiasts. Speaking at a media conference organised to launch the programme, Jagdish Lolugu from ESCI said, “The course will teach participants how to claim subsidies or seek governmental aid”.

ESCI will provide guidance to participants even after completion of the course. “We have over 2,800 faculty members, who can offer guidance till the product launch. Our alumni network is also vast,” Mr. Lolugu said.

If this short-term course finds enough takers, ESCI will launch a three-month start-up accelerator course.
