Girl run over by lorry

A second standard student on the way to a dance class was crushed to death by a lorry laden with ready mix concrete at Chaitanyapuri on Thursday.

The victim Tejaswini (8) was sitting pillion on the Honda Activa which her grandmother Subbalaxmi was riding when the lorry hit the two-wheeler from behind on Kothapet-Nagole stretch.

Tejaswini came under the rear wheel of the lorry while Subbalaxmi, a retired government employee, escaped with minor injuries, Chaitanyapuri Sub-Inspector Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said. Death was instant for the girl, whose parents live in London. A student of Little Flower School in Uppal, Tejaswini was residing with her grandparents at Samatapuri Colony.
