Girl electrocuted while playing at home

An eight-year-old girl was electrocuted when she accidentally came in contact with a high-tension wire while playing with her sister on the terrace of their house in Uppuguda on Sunday.

Chatrinaka police said that the incident took place around 12 p.m. on Sunday when S. Lakshmi, a Class III student, was playing with her sister.

They live in Krishna Reddy Colony in Uppuguda. “The impact of the electrocution was so high that Lakshmi was thrown to the ground from the terrace,” police said. She was rushed to Osmania General Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Septuagenarian drowns

A 70-year-old man drowned in a water-filled quarry pit at Gajularamaram in Jagathgirigutta police limits on Saturday.

Police said that the victim S. Chandraiah, who was a resident of Balaji Nagar in Yapral, went to the pit around 3 p.m. on Saturday to take bath with his wife and other relatives. He went to Jagathgirigutta to visit his daughter.

Around 3.30 p.m., they entered the water and he accidentally drowned. Police rushed to the spot and fished out his body.
