GHMC to step up voter awareness campaign

In order to increase the poll percentage from 52.46% recorded in previous elections, the District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner M. Dana Kishore has decided to intensify the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme launched by the Election Commission.

Voter inclusion

Senior officials from the Corporation are working in coordination with the NGOs, self help groups, Aasara Committees, networks of the disabled, resident welfare associations and educational institutions, to take up awareness campaigns for inclusion of new voters in the rolls, a press note said.

In order to create awareness about the working of EVMs and VVPATS (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail), three modernised mobile vans have been deployed.

Model polling station

Besides, the machines provided at ward level along with demonstration, and model polling station have been established at the GHMC head office.
