The State government on Tuesday issued orders sanctioning Rs.36.54 crores for construction of 386 new houses at IDH Colony and in the slum areas of Ammuguda, Parthiwada, Bhagat Singh Nagar and Subash Chandra Bose Nagar,
The orders came in the wake of a block at IDH Colony collapsing in the wee hours of August 30 after which Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao inspected the houses and the four slums which were in a dilapidated condition. He had then announced that in five months, the government would convert those areas into model housing colonies by reconstructing them at its own expense.
Based on that, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) conducted a survey earlier this month and identified 216 dilapidated houses in IDH Colony, 101 in Ammuguda, 26 in Subhash Chandra Bose Nagar, 12 in Bhagat Singh Nagar and 31 in Parthiwada for reconstruction. A layout, with a living hall, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, within 580 square feet was finalised.

The GHMC, which is commissioned to construct the homes, stated that the work will be done in four stages; 108 houses in the first package at IDH Colony, 96 houses in the second package at IDH Colony, Subhash Chandra Bose Nagar and Bhagath Singh Nagar, 96 more houses in the third stage at Ammuguda and Parthiwada and a final 96 houses would be built at Ammuguda and Parthiwada.
All the flats will be constructed in a G+2 model and provided with civic amenities like roads, sewerage lines and water supply as well, said the orders.
