Ananthagiri, the source of the River Musi near Vikarabad, has received a fillip as a tourist destination, with the government releasing an initial budget for development of an Ecotourism Centre there.

A government order was issued on Monday releasing nearly Rs.3.24 crore to the Chairman and Managing Director of the State Tourism Development Corporation for development of an ecotourism centre at Ananthagiri.

The amount was released from the Central Financial Assistance granted earlier by the Union government under its ‘Destination Development’ programme. Over Rs.4 crore was released for Ananthagiri under the programme, of which the latest administrative sanction was for 80 per cent of the amount.
