Four Nigerians held for ‘cheating’

Hyderabad police on Friday arrested four Nigerians in two different cases.

Foreigners Nasoki Amos Williams and Ibrahim Iduh, along with two Indians -Paras Grovar and Karan Kumar Jha- were held for allegedly duping people in the guise of supplying cancer medicine OPDIVO.

The Nigerian duo listed a fake company named JB Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Private Limited in indiamart.com website. The complainant in the case was friend of a person undergoing treatment for cancer.

As the patient urgently required medicine, her friend contacted the website and paid ₹3.99 lakh online only to realise later that he was taken for a ride.

In another case, two more Nigerians -Ike Chukwvnonso and Azubuike- were held on charge of cheating a woman of ₹9.3 lakh after assuring her to send a gift from London.

The Commissioner's Task Force (East) sleuths on Friday seized 12 kilos of ganja and ₹19,000 after arresting three persons. The arrested Rafiq, Khaleel and Om Prakash Singh procured Ganja from a person in Odisha and were planning to sell to customers in Hyderabad when the TF team caught them. In another case, the TF (West) officials seized 2.5 kilos of Alprazolam and 500 grams of Diazepam after arresting seven persons. The arrested persons used the two chemicals to mix in toddy and sell, the police said.
