Four jailed for drunken driving

Four motorists were given a one-day jail sentence in addition to a penalty of Rs. 2,000 each for driving in a drunken condition. The jail term was awarded by the Seventh Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Medchal on Thursday.

Traffic police who launched a drive against drunken driving in Cyberabad caught three motorcyclists and a petrol tanker driver during a check at Alwal on Wednesday night. After the magistrate handed down the sentence, they were taken to Cherlapally jail, Additional DCP Pulinder Reddy said.
