Former naxal held for murder plot

A former naxalite and his associate, who were allegedly hired to murder a businessman from Neredmet in connection with a land dispute, were arrested on Wednesday.

Two country-made short firearms, a sword and a sickle were seized from former naxalite Mattipalli Guruvaiah, 39, and his associate Kayati Narsimha Reddy, 40.

One Chandrashekhar of Sainikpuri had a dispute with real estate businessman Bujji over the ownership of 3,000 square yards of land at Ramakrishnapuram. Chandrashekhar sought intervention of Guruvaiah to settle the dispute in his favour.

Chandrashekhar had agreed to pay Rs. 5 lakh to Guruvaiah to kill the real estate businessman and gave Rs. 25,000 in advance.

On a tip-off, Task Force (North) Inspector A.P. Anand Kumar caught the duo and seized the weapons.
