Five-day Sahasra Chandi Yagam at KCR’s farmhouse

About 250 Ritviks to participate in yagam starting Jan. 21

Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has planned another yagam at his farmhouse at Erravalli in Markook mandal.

This time, it will be a five-day Sahasra Chandi Yagam starting January 21 in which about 250 ritviks from different parts of the State would participate.

Prominent persons in the field of performing yagas — Madugula Manikya Somayajulu, Narendra Kapre, Seshu Babu of Bhadrakali Temple and Gangavaram Narayana Sharma — would lead the yagam with Mr. Rao as

yagna karta . The fire generated on day one will be used for all auspicious programmes over the five days. The yagam will be held as per

Sringeri sampradayam (system followed by Sringeri Math).

As many as 16

yagna kundams are being constructed for the purpose. Durga Saptasati Parayana ( chandi parayana ) will be held 1,000 times and chandi havanam will be done 100 times. Similarly, rudra parayanam will be performed 1,000 times and rudra homam a 100 times.

Raja Shyamala Yaga will be held by Swami Swaroopananda of Sharada Peetham of Visakhapatnam along with this. Chaturveda parayan will also held during the four days.

Mr. Rao has examined the arrangements and on Friday, he spent about two hours at his farmhouse. Senior journalist and

Telangana magazine editor Ashtakala Rammohan has been supervising the arrangements.

“This would be a purely personal affair of Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao. No one else would be allowed during the yagam,” said a source.

During the last week of December 2015, Mr. Rao had arranged an Ayuta Chandi Yagam at Erravalli Village, in Medak which was attended by hundreds of devotees.
