A major fire broke out at Pooja Edifice building at Begumpet in the early hours of Monday. No casualties were reported.
Fire officials suspect short circuit to be the reason for the mishap.
The fire started from an educational consultancy office located on the third floor of the building at around 5 a.m. and soon spread to the upper floor.

The third and fourth floors of the building house offices of educational consultancies and private firms, and have large quantities of combustible material such as furniture and paper.
An auto driver who was passing by, noticed smoke emanating from the building and alerted the watchman.
Later, eight fire tenders from Secunderabad, Moula Ali and Musheerabad fire station were pressed into service to contain the blaze.

“We are still investigating the cause of the fire and extent of the loss,” Secunderabad Fire Station Officer, G. Venkatesh said. Sources said that the building did not follow fire safety norms.
Meanwhile, the GHMC Commissioner, Somesh Kumar, inspected the spot and said that a special drive would be held in the next two months against buildings which do not possess the fire department’s No-Objection Certificate.
