Fake arms licence racket busted, three security guards held

The gang prepared arms licences using forged rubber stamps of government officials, police said

Police on Saturday busted a fake arms licence racket by arresting three security guards from Uttar Pradesh.

Three duplicate arms licences, eight fake rubber stamps of different dignitaries and six firearms with 24 live rounds were recovered from Ravindra Prasad (36), Ranjit Kumar (30) and Sudhama Prasad (38), all natives of Uttar Pradesh. Ravindra Prasad, who used to run Raj Security Services in R.K.

Puram, prepared forged arms licenses using fake rubber stamps of various government officials and supplied them to others.

He made the rubber stamps of Deputy Commissioner of Police of Dimapur in Nagaland; Additional District Magistrate, Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir; office of the District Magistrate, Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir and second District Magistrate, Gorakhpur.

Ravindra Prasad came to the city in 1997 and worked as a security guard at Birla Mandir, police said in a press release.

Ravindra Prasad purchased a firearm with a duplicate arms licence and worked as a guard. After a few months, some of his friends from Uttar Pradesh pressurised him for gun licences.

As the demand rose, he started preparing arms licenses by making forged rubber stamps of government officials and licence books. He sold these documents for Rs.10,000 each. Ranjit Kumar, Sudhama Prasad and a few others purchased these licences from him, police said.
