Extensive arrangements in place for immersion of over 50,000 idols

GHMC has made extensive arrangements for smooth immersion of over 50,000 Ganesh idols across the city with an expenditure of ₹20 crore. Arrangements have also been made for the main procession towards Tank Bund on September 12.

Over 11,000 employees and workers have been deployed for sanitation on the procession route and at immersion points. A Ganesh Action Team will be stationed for every kilometre of the 391-km procession route.

Each team will have a sanitation supervisor or jawan, three sanitation field assistants, and 21 workers, who will work in three shifts. A total of 481 supervisors, 719 SFAs and 9849 sanitation workers will be working during the fête to keep the roads clean.

HMDA will deploy 1,000 workers near Hussainsagar to remove the debris generated from the immersion.

GHMC has hired 93 static cranes and 134 mobile cranes to be kept at 32 locations for immersion. The 23 immersion ponds created by GHMC have been filled with water, a press statement from GHMC informed.

At all designated lakes for immersion, expert swimmers are being deployed, with 10 of them stationed at Hussainsagar. At Saroornagar, Pragathi Nagar and Kapra lakes, boats will be provided, while at Hussainsagar, seven ordinary and four speed boats will be kept ready.

On the procession route, road repairs, re-carpeting and pothole filling has been taken up with an expenditure of ₹9.29 crore. 0Roads are being repaired at the SRDP project sites too. Barricading will be done for 12 kilometres by the Roads & Buildings department, and water proof tents will be pitched at 15 locations enroute.

A total of 36,674 temporary lights are being provided with an expenditure of ₹99 lakh. Seventy five generators are being supplied by R&B department’s electrical wing, while 48 mobile transformers will be provided by the Southern Discom, to be kept at Hussainsagar, and five at Saroornagar lake.

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board will establish 115 water camps to distribute 30 lakh water sachets.

On the procession routes, 36 fire engines will be positioned to meet any emergency. National disaster response force will be deployed near Tank Bund and Saroornagar lake.

Pruning of branches has been completed on the procession route, and an emergency horticulture team will be provided for every circle.
