For a few hot wheels enthusiasts, it was an off-roading experience with a difference in the city on Saturday. On a bright sunny day, the enthusiasts and some media persons experienced what it is to drive or be seated in a four-wheel drive Jeep.

The tough rocky terrain of Deccan? That was like a walk in the park inside the Grand Cherokee. On a specially-created track with holes gouged out of the ground, the vehicle just rolled on and out without even a sense of effort. “The key in off-road driving is not acceleration, it is to let the torque of the engine do the work,” said one of the instructors at the specially-created track near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).

The Camp Jeep showcases the legendary off-roading capabilities of Jeep SUVs whose heritage can be traced back to the first four-wheel drive Jeep that helped tilt the World War II in favour of Allies. A monocoque chassis helps the vehicle navigate the toughest terrain without any effort and in absolute comfort for the driver as well as passengers. “The Camp Jeep gives customers the opportunity to drive 4x4 Jeep SUVs on exceptionally difficult terrain and witness first-hand the ease with which these SUVs are able to tackle extreme driving conditions,” said Kevin Flynn of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
