Allege neglect of Palamuru-RR project, seek its re-engineering

Palamuru Engineers Forum, a forum of engineers of the erstwhile undivided Mahabubnagar district, has demanded the State Government of taking up re-engineering of Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation project one more time and de-link the Dindi Project planned to draw water from the former.

The body, mostly comprising retired engineers, also wants the Government to take up Palamuru-Rangareddy project in two phases by limiting the present one till Uddandapur Reservoir and another phase based on Jurala water to serve Makthal, Narayanpet, Kodangal, Devarakadra, Mahabubnagar, Jadcherla and Shadnagar areas with 60 tmcft water drawn on 30 flood days.

“The Government is neglecting Palamuru-Rangareddy project compared to the focus being laid and spending made on Kaleshwaram Project, belying the hopes of erstwhile undivided Mahabubnagar district. Four other lift irrigation projects – Bhima, Kalwakurthy, Nettempadu and Koilsagar also still remain incomplete”, Forum president R. Ramesh Reddy, vice-president M. Ramakrishna Reddy, general secretary D. Govardhan Reddy and G. Haragopal and M. Raghava Chary of Palamuru Adhyayana Vedika alleged here on Friday.
