Creates fake Facebook accounts of his school classmate, uploads objectionable photos

An engineering student landed behind the bars for allegedly harassing a medico — his school classmate — by creating fake accounts in her name in Facebook and posting objectionable photos.

Twenty-year-old G. Krishna, a B.Tech. student of Satyabhama University in Tamil Nadu, was picked up from Chennai and remanded in judicial custody here on Tuesday. The accused created two accounts in the social networking website in the name of his school classmate who is presently pursuing medicine in Karimnagar.

“He began posting objectionable photographs of the girl on the site. The same photos he sent to mobile phones of their common friends,” the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Station Inspector, G. Venkatesham, said. Following a complaint by the medico's father, police registered a case under Section 66-A of IT Act and Section 500 (defamation) of IPC. Tracking the Internet Protocol address, the police found that he sent the photos through his laptop using a wireless Internet data card. Krishna studied in Abhyasa Public School at Toopran in Medak.
