The road stretches around the Secunderabad railway station were brought under electronic surveillance by the city police, with help from local communities. Together, they installed 58 close circuit cameras.
K. Rama Krishna Rao, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Telangana, inaugurated the closed circuit cameras project on Saturday.
Four stretches around the railway station, of 1 km distance each, will be covered by the 58 cameras that are connected to a surveillance centre set up near the railway station. This apart, important places like Ganesh temple, railway station parking, Secunderabad Gurudwara and Rethifile bus station will also be covered.

“The project, costing about Rs.23.61 lakh, was taken up by local communities, including businessmen. Policemen and local people will monitor the activity by sitting in the surveillance unit,” Hyderabad Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy said. It is just the beginning and we plan to extend the project across the city, he added.
