Efforts on to make Hyderabad Metro safe, world class: experts

City’s Metro will be much better technology-wise compared to Delhi and Bangalore Metros, they say

The eight independent technical and construction experts, all former senior railway officials, assisting the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) in the project execution have appealed to the citizens to be patient while the work is on.

“The L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad is taking lot of precautions in the current construction stage and Hyderabad Metro will be much better technology wise in every aspect when compared to Delhi and even Bangalore metros,” affirmed the rail experts forming the third level of engineers closely checking the designs and drawings of every aspect of the project.

They include C. B. K. Rao former Director (Technical) of Delhi Metro and expert in structures; S.P. Iyer, former Principal Chief Engineer, Indian Railways and worked in Bangalore Metro; Satish Kumar, former Director (Electrical), Delhi Metro; M. U. M. V. Prasada Rao, former Chief Electrical Engineer, Indian Railways, signalling expert; V.K. Manglik, former General Manager, Indian Railways, expert in rolling stock, P. Raja Goundan, former General Manager, Indian Railways, expert in telecom and R. Sivaramakrishna, former Chief Signal & Communication Engineer, Indian Railways and G.P. Garg, former Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety.

At a press conference on Friday, HMR Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy explained that the detailed designs, engineering drawings, design basis reports are first prepared by the renowned metro rail consultancy firm – AECOM appointed by the concessionaire L&TMRH.

It is followed by crosschecking of the same by independent engineer Louis Berger, appointed by HMR.

At least 1,000 engineers, both Indians and expatriates, have been working on the detailed designs for the last couple of years to ensure the Hyderabad Metro Rail is built safe and world class, Mr. N. V. S. Reddy added.
