Doctors help mother deliver five-kg baby

May 31, 2014 12:17 am | Updated May 24, 2016 02:32 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The obstetrics and gynaecologists of the State-run Gandhi Hospital have successfully helped a 34-year-mother of three children, Munnibi, to naturally give birth to a 5 kg baby boy. Apart from the infant’s abnormal weight, the process of pregnancy was further complicated because the mother’s weight was close to 105 kg, and she was considered as a high risk case. However, PG student Dr. P. Dakshayani and Assistant professor Dr. Sravanti helped the mother to give birth naturally.

Given the weight of Munnibi, a native of Nizamabad, and possibility of complications arising out of it, even anaesthesia specialists were reluctant to give sedation for caesarean section.

In a series of tests conducted on the baby, no congenital abnormalities were found.
