All sections of society seeing all-round progress: Union Minister

Role models Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya with five of the eight persons selected for Padma awards from Telangana, in the city on Friday.

The manner in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi was going about for all-round development of the nation was the right way forward, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment B. Dattatreya said.

“Development does not mean progress achieved in a section of society, of a particular caste or creed, a single region or State. It is development of the entire country and its citizens and that is what our Prime Minister is striving for,” he said.

Mr. Dattatreya was speaking at a function organised by voluntary agencies Walk for Water, the Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), and the National Services Scheme (NSS) here to felicitate Padma award winners from the State.

“The fact that eight persons from Telangana were selected for the awards is a matter of pride for us,” he said.

Inspiration for youth

“Youth should be inspired by these people so that they themselves become a model for all to follow,” he said, pointing out the various Central government schemes that showcased the development orientation of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government.
