Dalit Bandhu beneficiaries given 270 vehicles

The total worth of the vehicles is ₹ 19.82 crore

A mega asset distribution programme for the beneficiaries of the State government’s “Dalit Bandhu” scheme marked the celebration of the 115^th birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram in Karimnagar on Tuesday.

Civil Supplies and Backward Classes Welfare Minister G Kamalakar handed over as many as 270 vehicles worth about ₹ 19.82 crore to the beneficiaries of the scheme at a programme held at the Ambedkar stadium here. Collector R V Karnan and others were present.

The programme was organised under the aegis of the District SC Service Co-op. Development Society Limited.

The minister paid glowing tributes to the great freedom fighter Mr Babu Jagjivan Ram on the occasion.

He said the Dalit Bandhu scheme is a landmark financial empowerment initiative to enable Dalits become entrepreneurs and pursue business ventures of their choice.
