RAF, APSP and police maintain a strict vigil

Peace prevailed in the curfew-bound areas of Rajendranagar on Friday. The police had clamped curfew following clashes between two minority communities on Wednesday over the issue of burning of a religious flag resulting in police firing. Three people were killed while five were injured.

Security was heightened in the area on Friday afternoon as the violence affected area is close to the communally sensitive area of Kishabagh.

Teams of Rapid Action Force, APSP and civil police maintained a strict vigil in the area.

A few voluntary bodies distributed groceries to the violence affected families in Arsh Mahal area, inhabited by the working class. Revenue officials also visited the area and spoke to the affected families.

However, the local residents criticised the administration for ignoring their problems arising out of prohibitory orders.

“The authorities should arrange a team of doctors as children are suffering from seasonal ailments,” Fatima Bi, a housewife said.
