Crop failure drives farmer to suicide

Jella Kishtaiah, aged 50 years, from Sunkidi village in Talamadugu mandal of Adilabad district committed suicide by hanging himself in a cattleshed near his house on Wednesday. According to the police he owed ₹6.5 lakh to a bank and private moneylenders. He was disturbed as cotton and soyabean crops in his 6 acres had failed last season which made it impossible for him to repay the debt.
