City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma warned of stringent action if pandal organisers try to forcibly collect donations from people on the eve of forthcoming Ganesh festival from September 9. The 11-day festival will conclude on September 18.
Forcible collection of funds in the name of religion or religious functions would not be allowed at any cost, he said. He asked organisers to collect applications for installation of Ganesh idols at the police stations concerned from August 23 to 26 and submit the same on or before August 29 to get permission for installing idols. The organisers have to mention the place and date of installation along with the time and route of the procession to be taken out for immersing the idol.
Unauthorised power supply to the pandals would not be allowed and the organisers have to apply with the APCPDCL and permission letter should be enclosed along with the application. Those installing idols in the apartment cellars and planning to take out processions must apply for police clearance.

Meanwhile, the central zone police have decided not to give permission to the proposed second Million March of students of Osmania University and a meeting planned by the striking APNGO employees stating that the police would be busy in making security arrangements for the Ganesh festival.
