Complaint lodged

Federation of Brahmin Associations has lodged a complaint with Director General of Police against the Bhupalapalli District Collector A. Murali for his remarks on Brahmin culture at a meeting in Eturunagaram on Friday.

Federation executive president M. Venkataramana Sharma in a complaint to DGP Anurag Sharma said that it was unfortunate that a person in the post of District Collector and status of District Magistrate made highly objectionable remarks that could incite clashes and serious differences between different castes.

Mr.Sharma said that while addressing a meeting at Eturunagaram, Collector Murali made remarks belittling the Brahmin culture, the practice of observing penance and ‘Deeksha’ for various gods. The Collector also asked the villagers to hunt down pigs and wild pigs and eat their meat as it was good for health and that was how people consumed meat till Brahmin culture emerged when various restrictions were imposed on consumption of beef and other meat, they said in their complaint.

Mr.Sharma said that the Collector’s remarks had hurt the sentiments of Brahmins and those who observed ‘Deeksha’ for days together to cleanse the body and mind. His remarks slighted crores of Hindus, particularly Brahmins and were reprehensible. This could lead to animosity between various communities and result in law and order situation, he said in his complaint to the DGP.

The Collector also encouraged the villages to violate Wildlife Protection Act by hunting down wild animals. Cases should be booked against the Collector under relevant sections of IPC and other Acts, the Federation said in its complaint.
