Music composer Ghantasala Sai Srinivas Thaman Siva Kumar, popularly known as S.S. Thaman, the man known for his foot-thumping music in blockbusters like Dookudu and Businessman , will perform at a fund-raiser at Shilpakala Vedika on February 28.

At a curtain-raiser press conference here on Friday, he said this was the second time his Chennai-based band Thakkalli was performing at a charity show. “My band will come up with a special, 150 minute-long show that will definitely be different from the usual musical performances,” the drummer/percussionist promised.

“This performance is special for us as it is for the cultural organisation Kinnera Art Theatres, specially to fund its education-related projects. That is what makes it different. And yes, we have composed some special numbers too,” Mr. Thaman said.

Among singers who are expected to participate in the show are Geeta Madhuri, Shravani Bhargavi, Rahul Nambiar and Hemachandra of ‘Indian Idol’ fame.

Kinnera Art Theatres secretary Maddali Raghuram said they hoped to raise at least Rs. 10 lakh from the show. “We really need the funds as we wish to scale up the number of scholarships we give annually to students from the economically-weaker sections. We are grateful to Mr. Thaman and his team for readily accepting to perform for the cause,” he said.
