Collectors told to ensure every eligible single woman gets pension

The State government has issued instructions to the District Collectors to launch an awareness drive on Financial Assistance to Single Women Scheme and take all steps for disbursement of ₹1,000 pension from June 2.

In a video conference with all the Collectors at the Secretariat here on Wednesday, Chief Secretary S.P. Singh said the applications should be routed through the MeeSeva centres to avoid delays in data entry, segregation and verification.

Wide publicity of the scheme’s guidelines be provided at the village level to enable every eligible woman beneficiary apply for financial assistance.

Giving the schedule for the implementation of the scheme on June 2, State Formation Day, he said applications should be received at the Gram Panchayat office and during Grama Sabhas in rural areas and through MeeSeva centres in urban areas while Ward Sabhas should be conducted from May 8 to 13. Verification of applications should be taken up from May 9 to 18.

The display of eligible beneficiaries’ list in Gram Panchayat and Ward office of GHMC, municipal office and receipt and disposal of objections be done from May 19 to 21. The final list of eligible beneficiaries be displayed on May 22, he said.

Bringing transparency and accountability into the process, Mr. Singh directed the Collectors that the data should be uploaded in Aasara website by the MPDOs in rural areas, Municipal Commissioners in urban areas, Deputy Commissioners in GHMC areas and Tehsildars in Hyderabad district. The Collectors should approve the data of beneficiaries and forward them to the State level from May 23 to 25. From May 26 to 29, individual proceedings and transfer of funds would be done.

A special strategy be formulated for selection of eligible beneficiaries in urban areas and a special control room would be set up in the SERP office. A separate meeting be held for GHMC officers. The pension would be disbursed on June 2 in districts and constituencies during special programmes.
