Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at the dinner hosted for foreign delegates on Sunday.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday evening hosted a dinner for delegates from 42 countries who are attending the World Telugu Conference.

Addressing them, Mr. Rao called upon NRIs from Telangana to work as ambassadors of development in the State. He recalled that when economic liberalisation took place in China, its own people living abroad became key investors in that country. The same should be the situation in Telangana, he said.

He explained that the fruits of Statehood movement were visible now. Everything was taking place as planned. With a growth rate of 17.8%, the State stood first in the country.

Telangana was discriminated against in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh as not even 10 to 15% of revenue was spent on it. The region faced injustice in employment and there was an onslaught on its language and culture. The people of Telangana were projected as jokers in Telugu films. Mr. Rao said the government was trying to restore the past glory of the region treading the path of development.

He said 2,000 out of 5,000 industries which got permissions have started functioning in the State. As ambassadors, he appealed to them to present these facts to the world and invite investments in the State.
