City sizzles at 40.8 Celsius

The city recorded the season’s highest maximum temperature at 40.8 degree Celsius on Monday. The maximum temperature in the city is steadily rising and it shot up by 0.8 degree Celsius from 40 degree Celsius on Sunday.

The minimum temperature, which was recorded at 26 degree Celsius on Sunday, is also likely to increase. It is expected to fluctuate around 28 degree Celsius during the next few days.

It is a normal trend during this time of the year. The temperature will continue to rise further in the coming days and as per the forecasts, it could reach 42 degree Celsius on May 1, said Met Department authorities.

Severe heat conditions would prevail and there could be few thunderstorms as well. Last year, the highest maximum temperature was 43 degree Celsius in May.
