Motorists face tough time as roads remain waterlogged in Secunderabad, Begumpet, Khairatabad, Raj Bhavan and other areas

Rain lashes Hyderabad.

Sudden rains that lashed the capital on Sunday evening left roads under sheets of water in different areas. According to the Met Department, between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m., the city received 26 mm rainfall.

Following rains, reports of water logging poured in from Secunderabad, Begumpet, Khairatabad, Raj Bhavan and other areas. Motorists shuttling across these areas had tough time as few roads remained inundated for sometime.

People visiting different Ganesh pandals, especially those visiting the Khairatabad Ganesh were caught unawares and put to lot of inconvenience due to the rains. Meanwhile, several youth welfare associations continued the Ganesh idol immersion procession in spite of the heavy showers at Hussainsagar Lake.

Traffic moved at a snail’s pace on the Khairatabad flyover, Secretariat and Raj Bhavan roads following the rains and Ganesh idol immersion processions for the major part of Sunday evening.

Met authorities said there could be heavy rains at few areas and thundershowers at other areas in the capital on Monday.
