Many may consider reading comics as passé but still there are people, especially youngsters who are interested, and are passionate about reviving it, of course with the use of technology.
Given the trend of developing applications for mobiles and other devices, an NGO is coming up with The Hyderabad Graphic Novel project, which portrays the history of Hyderabad in digital form.
Though it is called as a graphic novel, there is much of difference when compared to a conventional comic. It is generally a marketing term for a comic, says Jai Undurti, co-writer and co-creator, who worked on the project, which is being developed under the auspices of Yugantar, an NGO.

A team of colourists, letterers and pencil artists led by artists Harsho Mohan Chattoraj from Kolkata and Federico Zumel from Argentina have worked on this project. The novel has about 120 pages divided into four episodes that showcase the history of Hyderabad in different eras and different aspects, explains Mr. Undurti.
It revolves around the legends of Hyderabad and narrated through the medium of graphic storytelling, he said on the sidelines of a special workshop on the Hyderabad Graphic Novel Project conducted at The Coffee Cup, Sainikpuri, here on Saturday. Addressing youngsters, who had gathered at the venue, he shared the basics of comic writings, dialogues, photographs and graphic content.
There are plans to launch the Hyderabad Graphic Novel application during the Comic Con Express event to be held in the capital on September 21 and 22 at Hitex Exhibition Centre, he added.
