Madhu Mohan Reddy, an associate of slain factionist Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri, was arrested by the Crime Investigation Department on Wednesday in connection with an extortion case.

Reddy was driving the car in which Suri was shot dead by one of his trusted aides then Bhanu Kiran in Jubilee Hills in January, 2011. After evading police for nearly 15 months, Kiran was finally caught by the CID in April this year.

Following his arrest, some persons approached the police alleging that Kiran and other members of Suri’s gang extorted money from them. Reddy’s name cropped up in three such extortion cases, CID Inspector K. Chandrashekhar Reddy said.

Soon after the CID officials registered cases based on the complaints lodged after Kiran’s arrest, Madhu Mohan Reddy disappeared from July this year. Kiran, Mangali Krishna and Reddy allegedly extorted Rs. 1.38 crore from a contractor of Hundri Neeva project K.V.N. Reddy in 2008.

On Wednesday, the CID officials nabbed Reddy in Hyderabad and presented him before a local court.
