Cathay Pacific to link Hong Kong-Hyderabad from Dec. 1

Cathay Pacific Airlines has decided to further expand its presence in the country announcing the launch of new four-times a week service between Hong Kong and Hyderabad.

The new service will commence operations from December 1 and will be operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft, with configuration of 44 business class and 267 economy class seats. The flight will depart Hong Kong every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In the return direction, the flights will leave from Hyderabad on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

It will offer passengers greater choice and more convenience in connecting to Cathay Pacific’s international network through its Hong Kong hub. Hyderabad will be the sixth city to be covered by the Cathay Pacific Group, four operated by Cathay Pacific Airlines its sister airline DragonAir is covering Bangalore and will launch Kolkata flight shortly.

Cathay Pacific general manager (South Asia, Middle East and Africa) Tom Wright said the new service would compliment the existing passenger services to Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi and was aimed at boosting leisure travel between Hong Kong and India. India was an important market for the airline both in terms of passengers as well as cargo and the latest addition would boost ties between Hong Kong and India strengthening the former’s position as leading aviation hub.

Easy connection

The service would offer travellers easy connection to China, Australia and North America via Hong Kong. It comes close on the heels of launch of freighter service connecting Hyderabad to key markets in East and North Asia.

GMR Hyderabad International Airport CEO Vikram Jaisinghani said the airport was privileged that an airline like Cathay Pacific had chosen Hyderabad to operate its flights from Hong Kong.
