The L.B. Nagar police , who registered a criminal case two days ago against Union Ministers P. Chidambaram and Sushil Kumar Shinde following a court direction, submitted a report in a local court here on Monday seeking its closure.
The Second Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Ranga Reddy directed the L.B. Nagar police to register a case under section 420 (cheating) of the IPC against the two Ministers on January 28, 2013 following a private complaint.
The petition was filed by N. Naresh Kumar, president of Junior Advocates Association of Telangana.

Kumar, in his petition, stated that the then Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on December 9, 2009 announced that process would be initiated for creation of separate Telangana State and eventually backtracked.
Similarly, present Union Home Minister Shinde on December 28, 2012 stated after an all-party meeting that a decision on separate Telangana State would be made. But, this assurance too didn’t materialise, the petitioner stated. By doing so, the two Ministers cheated the people of Telangana, he said in the petition. As the police failed to register the case despite court direction, he moved the same court again on June 11 seeking action against them for not obliging the court ruling. Meanwhile, the L.B. Nagar police on Saturday issued the FIR in compliance with the court direction.
However, they filed a report in the court stating that the case should be closed for lack of evidence.
