The YSR Congress has decided to raise the Telugu Desam Party’s decision to induct defected party MLAs into the State Cabinet at the national level. It proposes to explain to leaders of all political parties TDP president and A.P. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s alleged “undemocratic act” setting aside constitutional norms and moral values.
YSR Congress senior leader and MP Y.V. Subba Reddy said that the party sought the appointment of President Pranab Mukherjee so that they could represent the horse-trading by TDP president and the cabinet berths given to the defectors subsequently. The party was seeking appointment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi too to brief him about the issue which was “against the letter and spirit of the Constitution”.
He charged Mr. Naidu with indulging in unethical act of giving cabinet posts to defected MLAs rather than asking them to resign from their MLA posts. Mr. Naidu raised the moral plank when the Telangana Rashtra Samithi inducted some of the defected TDP members into the State Cabinet, he said adding inclusion of defected YSRC MLAs exposed the double standards of Mr. Naidu.

Mr. Subba Reddy was critical of the reports that the Chief Minister had obtained resignation letters from the defected MLAs ahead of their elevation as Ministers. The issue came out after the ruling party drew flak from the Opposition as well as from within.
“The resignations should have been accepted before the MLAs are inducted into the Cabinet,” he said. The YSRC would hold dharnas in all constituencies on April 7 to highlight the “blatant violation” of the constitutional norms by the ruling TDP.
