Breast cancer screening to be implemented soon

The State government would implement a population-based breast cancer screening programme and would reach out to underprivileged community for making Telangana a benchmark State in the country, Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said on Sunday.

Speaking at the seventh edition of the 2K Pink Ribbon Walk organised by Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation (UBF) and KIMS-Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases in association with The Association of Breast Surgeons of India and FLO Hyderabad Chapter, Mr. Rao said the government would partner with UBF in implementing the programme and plans that are required to reach the objective within a timeframe of three years would be drawn up in the coming months.

According to a press release issued here, nearly 3,000 participants, including students from different parts of the city, took part in the Pink Ribbon Walk and expressed solidarity with the campaign.

Indian Women’s Cricket team captain Mithali Raj, former Union Home Secretary K. Padmanabhaiah, actress Lakshmi Manchu also participated in the event.
