The police on Saturday registered a case against BJP MLA from Goshamahal Raja Singh for allegedly assaulting and threatening a constable after the cop asked some persons to stop playing loud music at a marriage procession last night.
The police said that at around 2 a.m., following complaints of sound pollution, a Blue Colt’s team reached the spot and asked the organiser, Vijendar Singh, to stop the music.
“Instead, Vijendar along with few of his friends picked up an argument and obstructed the policemen,” Mangalhat Inspector R. Srinivas said.

Based on a complaint lodged by the constable, the police registered a case and invoked Sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (voluntarily causing hurt), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty) and 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code against the MLA and others.
Meanwhile, the legislator denied the charges and alleged that the constable was drunk and behaved in a high-handed manner with women in the marriage procession.
