The city unit of BJP on Wednesday came down heavily on municipal authorities for the pathetic condition of roads and situation of traffic in the capital.
Condition worsens
Members of the BJP Greater Hyderabad criticised the GHMC for not doing enough to improve conditions of roads, which have already started to unravel within the first two spells of showers.

While interacting with press persons on Wednesday, Greater Hyderabad BJP president B. Venkat Reddy squarely blamed GHMC for the “main roads sporting potholes and loose gravel already.
Commuters are suffering because of huge traffic jams at peak hours. It’s as if there is no administration and no Government to address basic issues.”

The BJP city leaders termed the promise of ‘development within 100-days’ of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy as a hollow one. “Chief Minister made promises to develop Hyderabad in a 100-day programme. All of them have remained unfulfilled. The GHMC claimed that it was ready for the monsoon. Is this the way to get ready?” he questioned while drawing attention to bad road conditions, water logging and traffic jams.
Drainage system
The party demanded that GHMC immediately take up construction of retaining walls along nalas, modernise drainage system, improve traffic congestion points and take up road repair works on a war footing.
The city BJP president said that as part of the call given by its national leaders, a ‘Jail Bharo’ programme will be organised on Friday, June 22. “We are protesting against the ever increasing prices of petrol and high inflation,” he said.
