Big B bags NTR Film Award

The awards will be given away at a glittering function on Ugadi, coinciding with the presentation of the 2011 Nandi Awards

The State Government has chosen Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan for the NTR National Film Award for 2011, while eminent director Shyam Benegal will be honoured with the B.N. Reddy National Film Award.

While the Nagi Reddy & Chakrapani Award went to G. Adiseshagiri Rao of Padmaya Studios, veteran actor Kaikala Satyanarayana was selected for the Raghupathi Venkayya Award.

While the NTR Award comes with a cash purse of Rs. 5 lakh, the other awards have a Rs. 2 lakh cash prize each.

The awards, which were announced on Saturday evening, will be given away at a glittering function on Ugadi, coinciding with the presentation of the 2011 Nandi Awards.
