“During our days, people used to read, learn and discuss ‘Puranas’ in villages but these days politics has taken over. ‘Burra katha’ and puppet shows are history but there is a need to inculcate values enshrined in Srimad Bhagavatam in villages and towns through discourses,” said Mr. Sastry.

The values and philosophical concepts in the ‘Puranas’ were relevant even in the present digital age as they promote service to humanity, peace and harmony. They should be propagated on a wider scale, said Mandali Buddha Prasad, chairman of Official Language Commission.

Digital versions of ‘Puranas’ would help create awareness about Indian culture and the importance of values among present generation, he added. Sri Sharada Vedagnana Prasadam’s Dr. C.M. Prasad from U.S.A. and others spoke on the occasion.
